Bel Air Elementary School Counseling Beliefs Statement

The school counselors of Bel Air Elementary School believe:

• All students are individuals and learn at their own pace.
• All students deserve to be members of a school that respects their cultural diversity and celebrates their uniqueness.
• All students' cultural differences, developmental stages and specials needs are considered in planning and implementing the school wide counseling program.
• All students deserve a support network that includes school staff, parents, and community members who work together to ensure each child has the skills necessary to become productive members of society.
• All students should have equitable access to a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate school counseling program administered by state certified professional school counselors.

And that all school counselors at Bel Air Elementary School shall:

• Advocate for all students.
• Collaborate with families, stakeholders and community resources to assist student development and to plan, manage delivery and evaluate school counseling program activities.
• Help students to develop positive character traits and learn skills that will help them become productive citizens.
• Use data to design, implement, assess, and continuously improve the comprehensive school counseling program.
• Abide by the professional school counseling ethics as advocated by the American School Counselor Association

Bel Air Elementary School Counseling Mission Statement

The mission of the Bel Air Elementary School counseling department is to deliver a comprehensive, data driven school counseling program that fosters the academic, social/emotional and college/career development of all students in a safe and caring learning environment. The program is equitable and accessible to all students and through collaboration with staff, family, and the community will provide students with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets needed to excel academically and become successful lifelong learners and valuable citizens of their community.
