Bel Air E.S. Family,
Our students and staff are well into the 2nd Quarter of the school year! After reviewing report cards,I am proud to say that our students are making steady progress. Thank you all for attending the 1st Quarter Awards Ceremony
In October I sent an email and an auto-call encouraging parents to participate in the Eastern Elementary School Boundary Planning Committee due to the opening of Potomac Shores” Elementary School, Kilby Elementary School replacement, and additions at Belmont, Henderson and Neabsco Elementary Schools in 2017 for the School Board’s consideration. There are two Community Meetings where the general public is asked to review the Eastern Elementary School Boundary Planning Committee’s boundary proposals and to provide feedback on each plan’s perceived strengths and weaknesses. The first is scheduled for Tuesday, November 22 at 7 p.m. in the Potomac High School Auditorium. The second community meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 6 at 7 p.m. in the Freedom High School Auditorium. I’m encouraging parents and community members to attend at least one of the meetings.
The Eastern Elementary Boundary Planning Portal has been updated. It can be visited at http://arcg.is/2em0VGK.
The portal allows for:
· reviewing information about the boundary planning process; identifying boundary committee members and their respective contact information; the checking of school assignments associated with addresses, per the existing boundaries and those associated with boundary proposals; viewing important information about upcoming community meetings and events; identifying ways to voice feedback and input
Throughout the month of December, the Bel Air students and staff will be demonstrating the Character Counts trait of “caring” as we care for our community. From Monday, November 28, 2016 until Tuesday, December 13, 2016 we will be collecting pennies each day in the lobby. These pennies will be used to support a local family here at Bel Air during the holiday season. This family is one of our own and is struggling. This is a great opportunity for us to teach our students how important it is to care about and be responsible for our community. If you have any questions, please contact Katie Rivers at 703-670-4050 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
